First Line Friday

It’s First Line Friday!

Welcome to another addition of First Line Friday! Before we get to that, let’s take a moment and recognize what we are celebrating today. The death of our Saviour Jesus. Without this, we would not have life. It may not be a federal holiday, and yes we still have  to work (well at least I do), but as a Christian, I feel it is the most important of all. And while my book is not Easter themed, I just couldn’t write this post without recognizing the significance of the day, Good Friday.

Okay, onto our book of the day. It comes from a wonderful Amish author, well at least that is what I am used to reading of hers – Tricia Goyer. I’ve read her stories for a long time. Well this book is not Amish at all. In fact it’s historical, something I’ve really enjoyed reading more of lately. And I am really into this book. I bet I’ll have it finished by the time you finish reading this post. Well, maybe not quite that fast!

And now it’s time……. (enter drumroll)

This weeks first line from A Secret Courage

Will Fleming sprinted down the street.

I know that doesn’t give you a lot, but a first line is a first line. Right? I’ll just give you a little glimpse more – it’s full of beautiful writing, an interesting female lead, a budding relationship, and secrets. Oh and saving people! Taking place during WWII, it is quite an interesting read. Make sure you buy your copy here so you can see what it’s all about!

Now it’s your turn! Go grab your current read, turn to page one, and share your first line in the comments below. And don’t forget to visit these fantastic bloggers to see what they are reading:

  1. I will definitely check out your book! Happy Friday! My first line is from Noelle Marchand’s “The Nanny’s Temporary Triplets” : “By the power vested in me by God and the state of Texas” — “Stop this wedding!”

  2. Couldn’t wait to share what I’m reading this week. It’s a little dark but a tremendous reminder why we celebrate Easter! My first line is from Candice Curry’s autobiography A CON MAN’S DAUGHTER: “I could hear my name being called, but I was stuck somewhere between a dream and reality.”

But the line that made me keep reading is this one, a thought Candice had as a 13-year-old: “I strained to hear God’s voice in my ear but only heard Satan whisper how much he loved me.”

  3. Happy Good Friday! It is humbling to remember the price He paid for us.
I shared the first line from “A Hope Unseen” over on my blog, but I thought I’d share with you the first line from what I’m reading right now: “Lia Promise stared at the man across the table from her.” It’s from “An Informal Affair” by Heather Gray and is one of the stories in the Love At First Laugh collection which I have been reading my way through between novels this month.
