The southern town of Saisons lies at the crossroads between North and South, progressive and genteel antebellum life. Between East and West, between history and heritage, and new frontiers. Downton Abbey meets Gone With the Wind.

It’s 1912, in a world where slavery is dying and women’s rights are rising, and four young women who once shared a bond—and experienced a tragedy—question their own truths.

Scarlett was the shrinking violet in the group. Faithful to her friends, and hiding secrets of her own. When Mercedes steps in to rescue her, she unknowlingly plucks the thread that unravels Scarlett’s whole world.

But as Scarlett strives to hold fast to what is familiar the fabric of her life continues to come undone and secrets that are best kept hidden are exposed.

I’ve always had voices—er, stories in my head. I once said I should write them all down so someone could write them someday. I had no idea at the time that someone was me!

I have been writing since 1995, and began working in earnest on my debut novel, Tessa in 2013.  Meanwhile, I cranked out a few dozen poems, made countless notes for story ideas, and earned my BFA in Interior Design.  I lived with depression for many years, and the inherent feelings of worthlessness and invisibility; I didn’t want to be who I was and struggled with my own identity for many years.  My characters face many of these same demons.

I write stories of identity conflict. My characters encounter situations that force the question, “Who am I really?” For all who have ever wondered who you are or why you’re here, my stories will touch you in a very real—maybe too real—and a very deep way. I know, I write from experience.

Robin, what’s your favorite time of year?

Spring—it’s a (ahem) robin thing… I love the return of color, especially green. New life, the world awakening again. A bird can stretch her wings…

If you could step into a time machine and visit any time period, what would it be?

I’m partial to Medieval England and Ireland. I’m fascinated by all things Irish and British (you should hear my accents!!) Besides, I’m part Irish, don’tcha know?

A huge snowstorm hits your town and you are stuck in your house for a few days. Do you snuggle up and read a few books? Do something else?

Minus the snow it’s not so different to my life now… 😮  First I’d go out and make a huge snowman! Then make a batch of hot cocoa from scratch. I’d either snuggle up with a new book or few—or pour myself into my own writing.

What do you hope readers will take away from reading this book?

That God is with us in the darkest times, no matter how cruel the circumstances may be. He sees us through, and walks beside us each step of the way. We have but to acknowledge His presence. (He’s there regardless.)

Downton Abbey meets Gone with the Wind. How’d you come up with that idea for a book?

As I got into the story and setting (pantser, didn’t know til I started writing it) I realized there’s a lot of mash up going on. The mix of culture, a town tucked away, in its own cocoon but not cut off from the world. There are elements of both in my stories, elements that are dying out and fading away. Slavery, servants, formality, and familiarity. (ps, this holds true for the series)

Thank you for visiting us today Robin!

    1. thanks so much!! seems like it was serendipity which of my four characters in the series (Mercedes, Scarlett, Pearl, and Simone) “ended up” with which story, but truly I believe Holy Spirit has guided me every step of the way! thanks so much for popping by today!
